Bugg Spring Volunteer Joseph Branham Honored by SJRWMD
Joseph Branham of Okahumpka has been recognized for his volunteer work by the St. Johns River Water Management District's Governing Board with its 2010 Bob Owens Award.
On his own initiative and with his extensive scientific knowledge, Branham has conducted hundreds of water flow and level measurements of Bugg Spring in Lake County. It is believed that no other spring in Florida has had so many manual measurements conducted.
"Dr. Branham has performed the monitoring task over the years for no other reason than his love of the natural resources," said Tom Mirti, the District's director of the Division of Hydrologic Data Services. "His outstanding dedication to consistent and high quality flow measurements at Bugg Spring represents exceptionally meritorious service not only to the District but to the state of Florida as well."
