Learn More: Volunteering

What does this mean?

Are citizens monitoring the water quality or water levels on this waterbody? The Atlas tells you if any volunteers are currently working on this waterbody by checking the date of the last received data to determine volunteer activity. Citizen involvement is the force that provides much of the data to the Atlas. There are many ways citizens can become involved in volunteer opportunities to assist in the management of waterbodies and watersheds. They could collect water samples for water quality analysis, monitor lake and stream levels, or assist in regional clean up projects.
